KEEP A CHILD'S SOUL AND KEEP PLAYING
A weekend for creating beautiful memories with family. Parents will find themselves reliving their childhood and the children will just have fun: geocaching, Segway, hamburgers, château visit, lamb feeding, amusement park...
From geocaching to Segways: an original and sensational experience !
At 10:00am, we were ready at the marbrière d’Ardin, to find the hidden treasure in this old quarry. We enjoyed it as much as the children did, on this 4km Tèrra Aventura geocache trail which passes by the château de Dilay and park. It highlighted a local curiosity: the pigeonnier de Pouzay dovecote, in Béceleuf. It really is very surprising! An oak tree has grown inside it and now it is the dovecote’s roof. Then, direction Niort, at the edge of the Marais Poitevin, for a family lunch. Les The Baltard-style covered market was packed. A quick walk through this very lively market certainly whetted our appetite! We found a lovely restaurant: Le P'tit Rouquin whose decoration brought back some great memories for us. The children requested that our stroll to let the food go down should be something altogether more exciting, a tour of the town at the controls of a Segway. These vehicles are relatively easy to manage and are great fun! When we got back, we went to the boutique des P’tits amoureux, for a quick snack of local biscuits. After dinner and an evening walk through the old town, we were welcomed warmly by our hosts at the Logis de la Roche, a delightful charming gite. The children ran straight to the covered, heated swimming pool, bordered by Romanesque cloister arches, before falling gently to sleep.
Brave knights on the farm !
After a delicious breakfast, we set off for the château de Coudray-Salbart. This fortress made us feel like children again; our little ones became knights. Then we explored the town centre in Parthenay, a charming medieval town, where we could continue our time travel. A quick lunch at Madame Denise before heading for Mouton Village. Strolling through the park was delightful. We never knew there were so many different breeds of sheep! We met Jacob, the sheep with 4 horns. The children loved being able to get close to these big balls of wool, feeding the animals on the farm and, above all, bottle feeding the lambs. It really is a great place for a family to visit. For the night, we made a childhood dream come true: sleeping in a cabin perched high in the trees with birds and squirrels for company. I don’t know who was more excited, the parents or the children! A dip in the pool, then a picnic on our cabin terrace finished the day in the best possible way.
Family fun is great !
We had sweet dreams in our cabin. We wanted to stay longer, but the weekend was coming to an end. This morning, we had decided to visit an old school to get a feel of what is was like for the pupils at the time. It’s not that easy to walk in clogs and to write with a quill! As for the hopscotch, who do you think won? We had lunch at the Chat perché. Have you heard of food trucks? Well, it was more a food bus where we ate delicious hamburgers and very tender beef. The concept and the food were exquisite! To round off the weekend perfectly, we visited the Parc de la Vallée. Slides, bob-sleigh, swinging chairs, pirate boat, giant trampolines, carousel, bumper cars... This theme park unique in its genre, is a delight for young and old, with a family atmosphere, and a natural setting.
WHERE TO SLEEP AND EAT, WHAT TO DO?
